Your telegram of 12th. June. I have examined person

named and I am prepared to accept him provided you are satisfied

that all interest of Reuter Brockelmann & Co. in the Agency of the Texas 011 Co. for Hongkong and South China has been absolutely determined and on condition that neither Schluter nor Reuter

Brockelmann may be appointed sub-agent at Canton and that if and

when such a sub-agency is appointed it shall be a British firm.

Pending decision I shall allow Cheetham to deal with large cargo

arriving tomorrow on condition that he employhs as sub-agent in

Canton to deal with portion of the cargo for which there is no

storage accommodation in Hongkong the branch in Canton of the firm

of Shewan Tomes and Company. Cheetham is prepared to accept this

arrangement.
